In continuation of its longstanding humanitarian tradition, the Near Foundation, a Turkish-based charitable organization, in collaboration with its affiliate, Nusret Educational and Cultural Company Limited, hosted a memorable Islamic get-together in celebration of Eid al-Adha in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

The event, which brought together members of the Muslim communities and other stakeholders, was facilitated through the Foundation’s Regional Representative, Alhaji Dr. Haroun Aja. It reflected the organization’s commitment to promoting unity, cultural harmony and humanitarian support across Nigeria.
Near Foundation operates alongside several reputable institutions under the Nusret umbrella, including Galaxy UniPrep Centre, Nigerian-Turkish International Colleges (NTIC), UFUK Dialogue, Vefa Tourism & Travels Limited, and Nizamiye Hospital Abuja. These institutions collectively contribute to education, healthcare, intercultural dialogue and social development within the country.
As part of the Eid al-Adha celebrations, the Foundation carried out its annual Qurbani (sacrificial giving) initiative across Nigeria. This year, over 200 rams were distributed nationwide to support Muslim families during the festive period. In Ebonyi State specifically, the Foundation donated five cows to the Muslim community, ensuring that many families could partake in the celebration with dignity and joy.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Haroun Aja emphasized the importance of compassion, generosity and communal harmony, especially during significant religious observances. He reiterated the Foundation’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities and fostering peaceful coexistence among diverse groups.
Beneficiaries and community leaders in Ebonyi State expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, noting that such interventions go a long way in strengthening unity and alleviating hardship, particularly during festive seasons.
The Sallah get-together in Abakaliki not only highlighted the spirit of giving but also reinforced the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting social cohesion and cultural understanding at the grassroots level.
