Igwe Ochendo crowns Hon. Benjamin Gambo “Eziogo Ndị Igbo” as he seeks House of Reps Seat

In a significant display of goodwill, unity and political engagement, Hon. Chief Benjamin Gambo and his wife, Chief Mrs. Grace Gambo (Ezinne), paid an official visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Igwe A. O. Chukwudi JP, Ochendo, Ogidi Igbo, Ezendigbo Gburugburu II, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, to formally declare his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Karu/Keffi/Konkona Federal Constituency in the 2027 General Elections.
The visit brought together traditional leadership, members of the Igbo community and political stakeholders, as Chief Gambo (Eziogo ndị Igbo 1) formally sought the support and goodwill of the Igbo people for his political aspiration under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Receiving the delegation, HRM Eze Igwe Ochendo Ogidi Igbo and Gburugburu II warmly welcomed Chief Gambo and his entourage to the palace, acknowledging the bond that has existed between the Gambo family and the Igbo community over the years.
The traditional institution particularly recognized Chief Gambo’s role as an in-law to the Igbo community, having over the years demonstrated genuine commitment to the welfare, development and growth of his wife, an Ada Igbo entrusted to his care. His consistent support, care and encouragement towards his wife’s development and advancement were described as worthy of recognition and appreciation. The honour was therefore not merely a political gesture, but principally an acknowledgment of his contributions as an in-law who has demonstrated, in practical terms, his commitment to the wellbeing and progress of an Ada Igbo.
In recognition of this relationship and his demonstrated goodwill towards the Igbo community, the royal father conferred on Chief Benjamin Gambo the prestigious traditional title of “Eziogo Ndị Igbo.” His wife, Chief Mrs. Grace Gambo, was equally honoured with the title of “Ezinne.” The conferment was greeted with appreciation and enthusiasm by those present, symbolizing the acceptance of Chief Gambo as a friend and supportive in-law of the Igbo community.
Speaking during the visit, the newly honoured Eziogo Ndị Igbo formally informed the gathering of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Karu/Keffi/Konkona Federal Constituency in 2027. He appealed to the Igbo community to support his aspiration and when the time comes, cast their votes for him under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Chief Gambo the Eziogo ndị Igbo said his aspiration is motivated by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the development of the constituency and provide effective, people-oriented representation at the National Assembly. He also called for unity and greater political participation, urging the Igbo community to actively engage in the democratic process and support a platform that aligns with their aspirations for a better Nigeria.
The Igbo community, in turn, expressed appreciation for Chief Gambo’s choice of political platform, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly its promise of a “rebirth” for the nation. Members of the community noted that the idea of national rebirth resonates with the desire for a better Nigeria characterized by development, opportunity, justice, economic growth and good governance.
The community consequently pledged to lend their support to the NDC’s vision and to Chief Gambo’s aspiration, while emphasizing the importance of a political process that produces leaders committed to the collective interest. The gathering therefore became more than a declaration of political ambition, it was also an occasion to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Gambo family and the Igbo community and to reaffirm the importance of unity and mutual support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The visit ended on a warm and cordial note, with prayers and goodwill from the traditional institution and members of the Igbo community. For Chief Benjamin Gambo, now proudly honoured as Eziogo Ndị Igbo, the palace visit marked the formal commencement of his journey to seek the mandate of the people of Karu/Keffi/Konkona Federal Constituency. For the Igbo community, the occasion represented an affirmation of a relationship built over the years and a willingness to participate actively in the political process while supporting the NDC’s promised national rebirth agenda.
As the road to the 2027 General Elections gradually takes shape, the visit has positioned Chief Benjamin Gambo’s aspiration within a broader conversation about representation, community development, political inclusion and the quest for a renewed Nigeria.
